Edinburgh trains cancelled and others delayed following fault

Edinburgh train passengers are facing disruption on routes to East Lothian following a signalling system fault.

ScotRail warned passengers that trains between Edinburgh Waverley and North Berwick/Tweedbank could be cancelled and delayed.

To help customers get to their destination, ticket acceptance has been put in place with local bus operators at no extra cost.

According to the train operator, the following trains have been cancelled on Sunday, June 23 due to the fault and due to a 'shortage of train crew'.

  • 4.12pm Edinburgh to Tweedbank.

  • 5.48pm Tweedbank to Edinburgh.

  • 8.11pm Edinburgh to Tweedbank.

  • 9:43pm Tweedbank to Edinburgh.

ScotRail posted on X: "Due to a fault with the signalling system, services between Edinburgh Waverley and North Berwick/Tweedbank are subject to delays, alterations or cancellations.

"We have arranged for your tickets to be accepted on local bus routes at no extra cost with Lothian Transport buses between Edinburgh and Prestonpans (in both directions).

"We have arranged for your tickets to be accepted on Borders Buses (West Coast Motors) between Edinburgh and Tweedbank (in both directions)."
