Edinburgh trains disrupted after fire breaks out and emergency service rush to scene

Trains between Edinburgh and Bathgate have been cancelled after a fire broke out next to the tracks.

On Saturday afternoon, at around 5.10pm, Network Rail Scotland informed travellers that no trains can run from through Bathgate.

It is understood emergency services are on the scene at the fire near Bathgate in West Lothian.

ScotRail said: "Due to a lineside fire near Bathgate, services can't run to or from this station. No services to run beyond Airdrie to Bathgate and nothing from Edinburgh to Bathgate."

Engineers have been called to inspect the site.

If you're travelling from Glasgow to Edinburgh, you can travel via Falkirk High or via Shotts. For those travelling from Helensburgh Central to Edinburgh, trains are terminating at Airdrie. Replacement buses have been requested but have not yet been confirmed.
