Some Edinburgh train services have been cancelled and delayed due to a loss of power.

Trains from Edinburgh to Glasgow via Shotts have been cancelled after a loss of power to the overhead line at Bellshill. It is believed it has been caused by vandalism.

Services that run through West Lothian will also be disrupted. Network Rail Scotland staff will be attending the site and ScotRail are trying to organise bus replacement services for customers affected.

Network Rail Scotland said: "There's a loss of power to our overhead supply in the Bellshill area, covering a number of routes. We suspect that this is due to vandalism, staff are on their way."

ScotRail told customers: "Cancellations to services between Glasgow Central and Edinburgh via Shotts.

"It will no longer call at Livingston South, West Calder, Addiewell, Breich, Fauldhouse, Shotts, Hartwood, Cleland, Carfin, Holytown, Bellshill, Uddingston and Glasgow Central."

They added: "Because of a failure of the electricity supply in the Coatbridge Central area, we are unable to run services through this affected area. Services will be delayed, altered or cancelled.

"Engineers are on site and we will work closely with them to get you on the move as soon as safely possible.
