According to BBC Weather, thunderstorms are forecasted to batter Edinburgh from 3pm until 5pm with showers expected to continue through the night and into Thursday.

The Met Office warns: "Heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected once again on Wednesday, with some travel disruption and flooding possible.

"There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds.

"There is a small chance of fast flowing or deep floodwater causing danger to life."

SEPA adds: "Heavy showers are forecast to affect the area during Tuesday afternoon and evening, and again during Wednesday. There is a risk of flooding from surface water and rivers. Potential impacts include flooding of properties and parts of communities, flooding of land and roads, and disruption to travel and infrastructure. The risk is greatest if showers occur over built up areas, the transport network, or small or fast responding rivers."
