Five years after publishing a negative inspection report, education officials are now satisfied with the improvements made by an additional support needs school in Motherwell.

In February 2019 Education Scotland identified multiple areas in need of significant improvement at Clydeview School.

This led to years of follow-up work, with inspections in December that same year as well as in 2021 and 2023.

During this time progress has continually been made, now reaching a point which caused inspectors to write to pupils’ families, informing them: “After reviewing the evidence, we are now confident that Clydeview School has the capacity to continue to improve, and we will publish no further reports in relation to the 2019 Education Scotland inspection report.

"Officers from North Lanarkshire Council will continue to work with the school to ensure progress continues.”

The most recent report on the school, which can be found on its website, notes progress in several important areas including safeguarding children, improving outcomes, developing quality individualised approaches to learning, and assessing the progress made by pupils.

Sharing a Magna Street campus with St Bernadette’s Primary School, Clydeview is a small ASN school consisting of five classes.
