It's been a week since Hull City appointed Tim Walter as the club's new manager, and in those hours and days since, the Tigers have continued their work behind the scenes on new recruits.

The club's transfer group continue to work away on adding to Walter's squad ahead of the players' return to pre-season training on July 1, and their impending return was one of the key topics for discussion on the latest edition of the 1904 Club podcast featuring David Prutton.

Prutton, who is about to jet off to Germany to work for UEFA's television coverage of Euro 2024, delivered his verdict on Walter's appointment, as well as the work needed in the transfer market ahead of the new season to make City competitive next term.

Another key area of discussion surrounded Tan Kesler's appointment onto the EFL board and what that means for the club, with City thought to be one of a raft of Championship clubs keen to see financial rules changed in the coming months, and so, too, Abdulkadir Omur's surprise omission from the Turkey squad.

"Everything that you hear is kind of sprightly and bright. It's always a bit of a funny one when it's done at this time of year because I think we're all stood there waiting, going well, what what's he like, what does he do," Prutton quizzed.

"You look at where he's been in the past, but you need to know the here and now, you want to know what he can do with the squad.

"You wanna know potentially what he can do with any money that may be floating around to be able to buy players or what players might be surplus to requirements.

"I think as an ex-pro thinking about it when you are away to decompress and relax and spend a bit of time with the family, you are kind of constantly checking the phone and WhatsApping teammates wondering what on earth you're gonna walk back into. It's gonna be an eye-opener, I think."
