The wait for the FA Cup final is nearly over as Manchester gets ready to descend on Wembley Stadium for a repeat of last year.

Manchester City were victorious when they met Manchester United in the end-of-season showpiece last June. Former Blues captain Ilkay Gundogan got his team off to the best possible start with a stunning strike past David de Gea.

However, the two teams went into the break level after Bruno Fernandes converted from the penalty spot. Six minutes after the restart, Gundogan popped up again to ultimately win the match for his team.

Since then, the German midfielder has left the Etihad Stadium but it is City who have less squad concerns heading into this FA Cup final rematch under the arch. MEN Sport has taken a look at the latest injury news for both camps and who could be about to miss out on the game.

Manchester United injury news

Three players look almost certain to miss out on the FA Cup final this Saturday for United. Tyrell Malacia has been injured for the entirety of the season and was not spotted in training on Wednesday.

Luke Shaw and Harry Maguire were both called up to the provisional England squad this week but were also missing as they aim to recover from muscular injuries in time for the European Championships. Maguire admitted yesterday that he is 'touch and go' to be fit for the showpiece.

He added: "I still don’t know if I’m going to be fit. It’s going to be a late one."

There was some brighter news from Carrington as a trio of players returned to training.

Mason Mount, Victor Lindelof and Anthony Martial were all spotted at Carrington training in midweek. Martial is the longest absentee having been missing since January and Saturday is likely to be his last chance to play for the Reds.

Lindelof has been out for some time with a muscular injury which had not quite recovered in time for the victory over Brighton while Mount has been nursing a minor issue. It is unclear at this stage whether any of the trio will be fit enough to feature against City.

Manchester City injury news

Pep Guardiola has just one certain absentee for this Saturday's final. Ederson will miss the game after fracturing his eye socket in a freak collision with Tottenham Hotspur's Cristian Romero last week.

The Brazilian had wanted to continue but was forced off by his manager. Stefan Ortega is likely to take his place in the starting line-up.

Jack Grealish has not played since illness kept him out of the clash with Fulham. He has been an unused substitute since then so it remains to be seen whether or not he will feature at Wembley.
