Electric car charging most in demand in Camden, Westminster and Islington

The Mayor has earmarked funding for 1,150 residential chargers by 2020, but we need to do more to support the capital’s move to electric.

The Evening Standard Future London Clean Air project is focusing on London’s toxic air crisis to work with decision makers to implement the infrastructure needed to reduce emissions.

Readers can vote for charge point locations on the Powermystreet map, created by Source London, a partner on the Clean Air project.

So far almost 1,000 people have suggested locations across the capital, with the highest highest number of nominations in Camden (148), followed closely by Westminster (120), Islington (112), Lambeth (85) and Southwark (68).

Contributions will help guide EV charging point suppliers and local councils, showing where demand is. By choosing the most convenient locations, it is hoped more people will be encouraged to use electric cars, and improve the air we breathe.
