Electric car drivers will get '20 per cent off' every charge 'until October'

Electric car drivers will save 20 per cent on public charging costs around the UK under a new scheme. The new app will show drivers the status of their vehicle when it is charging with around 200,000 charging sessions recorded on the Gridserve Electric Highway every month.

Gridserve is launching its new app and will give drivers 20 per cent off charging all summer long. When paying through the app, drivers will be able to save 20 per cent on their spending between now and Tuesday, October 1 in a major Cost of Living boost.

Rebecca Trebble, Chief Customer Experience Officer, Gridserve, said: “We are thrilled to be launching the GRIDSERVE app. 200,000 charging sessions are recorded on the GRIDSERVE Electric Highway every month, and the new app will make those charging sessions even easier.

"We have listened to our users and made it easier to receive receipts as we look to constantly improve our service. With 20% off charging across our locations this summer, it’s the perfect time to utilise the network and the app for a summer adventure.”

Rob Borley, CEO at Dootrix, who has been working with GRIDSERVE on selected projects since 2019, helping to build some of its technology solutions, said, “This state-of-the-art technology creates the roadmap for continued advancements that can be made quickly to meet future needs and empower EV drivers even more.”

Motorists can make use of this offer at over 190 locations on the Electric Highway, including Electric Forecourts, Electric Forecourts, Electric Super Hubs and Electric Retail Hubs. Borley added: “This is made possible by a very strong technical connection to the chargers themselves; real-time data from the chargers enables the app to build charging curves of the number of kilowatts that are being delivered to the vehicle throughout the charging session.”

Through the exchange, Mabini volunteers can turn in sacks of litter, regardless of weight, for a kilogram– or 2.2 pounds– of rice. Volunteer Raymond Basit says it’s been a potent incentive. "It helps a lot because people now have an urge, because of poverty and especially during these times, the price of goods is so high. Now during their free time they can clean, and they push themselves to clean because they get something in return, which is a big help for them." An updated 2022 University of Oxford report found that The Philippines accounts for 36% of the total global input of plastic waste into the ocean, more than any other country. The plastic for rice exchange aims to change that. :: 4.7 tonsAccording to Endaya, since clean-up efforts began in October 2022, more than 4.7 U.S. tons of garbage have been collected and exchanged for nearly 3 tons of rice.
