The new ITV streaming service has been snapping up some exciting international content alongside its own shows, and the latest series to be announced is US drama Love & Death.
With an all-star cast including Olsen, Plemons, Lily Rabe, Patrick Fugit, Elizabeth Marvel, Tom Pelphrey, Krysten Ritter and Keir Gilchrist, the series promises to be a must-see when it launches this autumn.
HBO Max is set to debut the series in the US this year about two church-going couples, enjoying small town family life in Texas, until somebody picks up an axe.
One of the series' executive producers is Hollywood star Nicole Kidman, who has been behind TV hits such as Big Little Lies, Nine Perfect Strangers and The Undoing.
ITV head of content acquisitions Sasha Breslau said: "We are thrilled to bring this scabrous, gripping series to ITVX viewers in the UK; get ready to be totally hooked!"
Alison Morris, senior vice president of television, digital and affiliate distribution at Warner Bros. Discovery said: "HBO Max’s Love & Death is a great addition to the line-up of premium dramas based on real life stories on ITV and ITVX. I hope that UK audiences are going to be as fascinated with the twists and turns of this story as I am."
The 1980s-set series is based on the true crime case of Texas housewife Candy Montgomery (Olsen) who was accused of the brutal axe murder of her friend Betty Gore (Rabe).
Plemons plays Betty's husband and Fugit's character is married to Candy in the series which was filmed in Texas.
This isn't the first TV series to be made about the case - in 2022, another series, Candy, aired on Hulu starring Jessica Biel as Candy and featuring Justin Timberlake and Jason Ritter as police officers.
Love & Death is set to stream on ITVX in autumn 2023.
