Elliot Wallis disciplinary verdict given after Huddersfield Giants winger's red card

For a second week running, no Super League players have received suspensions this week - with Huddersfield Giants winger Elliot Wallis not being charged by the Match Review Panel despite being sent off.

Wallis was dismissed for a 'head butt' in the Giants' defeat to Salford Red Devils, a decision that both Paul Rowley and Ian Watson felt was harsh. That has now been backed up by the Match Review Panel, who have deemed Wallis' actions as now worthy of further punishment.

Explaining why Wallis has not been charged, the minutes read: "Player does not head but opponent. Player moves in towards opponent with head but no butting motion."

While there are no suspensions, five players have been charged, with four receiving suspensions. Catalans Dragons captain Ben Garcia and fellow forward Julien Bousquet have been fined £250 fines for head contact and tripping respectively, while both Hull clubs have seen players notified. Jake Trueman has received a fine for dangerous contact as has Peta Hiku. Hiku's charge was graded at A but he has received the higher end of the sanction.
