Elton John performed at Harry and Meghan’s lunchtime reception today following their wedding.

Kensington Palace revealed: “Sir Elton John has performed at the Lunchtime Reception for guests celebrating the Wedding of Prince Harry and Ms. Meghan Markle.

“Prince Harry asked Sir Elton to perform at the Reception which was hosted by Her Majesty The Queen at St George’s Hall, Windsor Castle.

“Sir Elton performed for the newly married couple in recognition of the close connection he has with Prince Harry and his family.”

It’s not yet known what he sang.

Earlier in the week, Elton was confirmed to be performing at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s royal wedding.

According to TMZ, the 71-year-old singer is set to get behind his piano to perform on the momentous day.

Elton – who was already on the guest list to the wedding – was a fitting choice due to his history with Harry’s mother Princess Diana and the rest of the royal family.

Elton and Princess Diana were close friends during her life and the two worked together to raise money for AIDS research and awareness of the disease.

He famously sang “Candle in the Wind” in a heart-wrenching tribute to Diana at her funeral in 1997.

In 1998, the pianist and singer was knighted by the Queen and renamed Sir Elton John.

In addition to this, Harry has been close to Elton since he was a child, so it makes sense that Harry wanted him playing for his big day.

Elton had originally booked shows in Vegas for the weekend of the 19th May, but they were rescheduled months ago due to a “scheduling conflict”.

Adele, Ed Sheeran and Ellie Goulding (who performed at Harry’s brother The Duke of Cambridge’s wedding reception in 2011 and is a good friend of Prince Harry) are other acts tipped to perform, while rumours are still swirling that the Spice Girls could reunite for a special performance.
