EMC Insurance Group: 4Q Earnings Snapshot

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) _ EMC Insurance Group Inc. (EMCI) on Thursday reported a fourth-quarter loss of $21.5 million, after reporting a profit in the same period a year earlier.

The Des Moines, Iowa-based company said it had a loss of $1 per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were 43 cents per share.

The insurance holding company posted revenue of $182.7 million in the period.

For the year, the company reported a loss of $7.5 million, or 35 cents per share, swinging to a loss in the period. Revenue was reported as $702 million.

EMC Insurance Group expects full-year earnings in the range of $1.35 to $1.55 per share.

EMC Insurance Group shares have risen almost 1 percent since the beginning of the year. The stock has climbed 19 percent in the last 12 months.
