Emergency evacuation with police cordon after gas leak investigation

An emergency evacuation has taken place after fears of a gas leak in a Norfolk town.

Fire crews from Diss and Harleston were called to the incident in Sunnyside, Diss at 4.35pm yesterday, following reports of the leak.

Officers were also called to the scene to assist the fire service.

Police put a 50 metre-long cordon in place, shutting off the road as the emergency services investigated the scene.

The leak was contained and the road reopened at around 7pm.
