Last night, Emily Atack impressed fans by remaining “professional” when her comedy show was put on lockdown at The Old Rep Theatre in Birmingham, while the police investigated reports of “people with machetes” outside.

The Inbetweeners actor had just finished performing the debut gig on her Talk Thirty To Me tour, when audience members were told to stay put while officials checked out the claims. According to The Sun, Atack returned to the stage when the orders were given in an attempt to keep everyone calm.

Addressing the “scare” later that night, Atack took to Twitter to say: “Birmingham… I can’t tell you how special you made my first show. What a wonderful audience. I laughed (and almost cried) with you all. I’m sorry for that scare at the end, how awful?! I hope you all got home safe! LOVE YOU ALL.”

Her words were met with praise.

One Twitter user wrote: “You are a fantastic role model for my 9 year old daughter… Can’t wait to tell her all about the show tomorrow.”

Meanwhile, another said: “You handled a difficult situation very well and professionally – thanks for a good show.”

Ahhh was a bit of climax to the show,” one more noted. “But nothing was more fun intersting and hilarious than your show..thank for a fabulous evening..really enjoyed..good luck with tour.”

Even The Old Rep’s account replied, suggesting that she should have “a glass of well deserved Rosé” following the incident.

All this week, Atack is taking over from Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield as she co-hosts This Morning alongside I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! John Barrowman.

Talking about the opportunity earlier this month, the 29-year-old told The Sun that it was “a dream come true to be presenting one of [her] favourite shows.”

She continued: “I look forward to being on the iconic sofa. We’re going to have so much fun.”
