Emily Atack has a blunt message to trolls who call her fat: ‘Go f*** yourself’.
The Inbetweeners actress and I’m a Celebrity contestant has seen her star rise in recent months, and unfortunately with that comes unhappy internet trolls.
Atack admits digs about her weight used to upset her, but now they make her angry. In an interview with The Mirror, she said: “When you have 2 million followers on Instagram, you’re a role model, whether you like it or not.
“I was 17 when I started in the industry, and when you first see a nasty comment about your weight, it breaks your heart. But now it just angers me.
“There are so many young girls suffering from body insecurities and they might see those nasty comments on my Instagram.
“I think it’s so unhealthy to call someone like me fat, so sometimes I’ll say ‘go f*** yourself’ to trolls.
“I’m not overweight or underweight. I like eating - wine and food bring me joy with my friends, and if I’m happy in my soul then I’m healthy.”
The 29-year-old come to prominence playing teenage love interest Charlotte Hinchcliffe in the hugely popular The Inbetweeners.
She won a new legion of fans with her down-to-earth, quirky personality when she finished runner-up in last year’s I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here. She revealed in the interview she still sees her fellow contestants, and they are all part of a WhatsApp group. The actress claims The Chase star Anne Hegerty has ‘a dirty sense of humour’.
Talking of her fellow contestants, she said: “I see them all the time, we’re very close still.
“We’ve got a WhatsApp group, it’s popping off right now. Anne is the one who sends the most outrageous messages. She’s got a dirty sense of humour, she’s hilarious.”
