Emmerdale to air special 'hard-hitting' episode as abuse storyline takes a turn

Emmerdale has revealed plans for a special upcoming episode of the soap focusing on a hard-hitting storyline.

The ongoing narrative between Belle and abusive partner Tom has been incredibly impactful for viewers. During an Emmerdale press day, earlier this week, producer Sophie Roper offered an insight on where the storyline will go next.

Previewing an upcoming special episode of Emmerdale, Sophie explained: "Belle and Tom has been a huge storyline for us. It is incredibly important. It is a difficult storyline to watch and it has resonated with our audience.

"This is because it is such a huge real issue. So, we are continuing with that storyline and being truthful to those relationships. We've got a special episode coming up which sees Tom and Belle head off to Wales on a trip away together.

"We recruited Wales in Yorkshire. Our fantastic design team got a cottage up in the village and made it into a beautful Welsh retreat. The story, set to the background of this beautiful cottage, will be really hard-hitting. Tom is very much isolating Tom from her family and her surroundings.
