Yahoo News Emmerdale to air surprise proposal in Nicky and Gabby story

Emmerdale newcomer Nicky shocks everyone by proposing to Gabby Thomas next week.
The young lovers have only been romantically involved for a few weeks, but Nicky becomes determined to prove his love as they face a backlash.
So far, Nicky has been keeping quiet about his relationship with Gabby because he wants to maintain a reputation for being professional.

Nicky has been working as a nanny at Home Farm since the start of the year and his main role is to look after Gabby's baby son Thomas.
This week's episodes see Caleb Miligan discover what's going on when he finds Nicky and Gabby in a compromising position in the Home Farm kitchen.
Fearing it's only a matter of time before their secret spreads, Nicky and Gabby respond next week by announcing that they're in a relationship.
Kim Tate is furious over the news and wastes little time before preparing termination papers for Nicky. Nicky is stunned as Kim insists that she's firing him for breach of contract.

Gabby's mum Bernice Blackstock and stepmum Laurel Thomas also have plenty of questions to ask.
Nicky wants to prove his love to them all, so he proposes to Gabby on the spot.
As everyone reacts, Nicky insists that he'd already been waiting for the right opportunity to pop the question. Gabby is delighted and she accepts.

Taking control of the situation, Gabby threatens to remove Thomas from Kim's life unless she gives her blessing to the engagement. This risks making matters even worse as Kim gets angrier.
Meanwhile, Caleb worries about his own role in the drama and becomes determined to fix things with Kim. How will this affect his plans for Home Farm?
