Emmerdale and Benidorm star Bobby Knutt dies

Emmerdale and Benidorm star Bobby Knutt has passed away at the age of 71.

The actor and comedian – who has appeared in a number of popular UK series – is believed to have died suddenly while holidaying in the South of France (via the BBC).

Bobby, who had roles in Heartbeat and Last of the Summer Wine, is arguably best known for playing Albert Dingle in Emmerdale and his recent role in hit ITV comedy Benidorm.

The much-loved Yorkshireman joined the sitcom in 2016 to play grandfather Eddie Dawson, and series creator Derren Litten has paid tribute to the star over on Twitter.

"Very sad Benidorm news guys. The wonderful Bobby Knutt has passed away suddenly aged 71," he wrote. "Sending our Beni love to his family."
