Emmerdale fans fear David Metcalfe's cancer is back

David Metcalfe made a potentially heartbreaking discovery on Emmerdale tonight.

What started as an attempt to seduce Tracy Shankley (Amy Walsh) in costume for a sexy rendezvous took a dark turn when she accidentally kicked him in the crotch.

That pain eventually subsided, but David later discovered a separate lump when checking if the swelling had gone down. As fans know, David had a previous testicular cancer scare last year and is only just getting back on his feet.

When Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant) urged him to get the new lump checked immediately, David tried to brush aside any worry despite being obviously troubled by his discovery.

Emmerdale fans are already dreading the possibility of another cancer battle for David, who's been through so much over the last year with Tracy, Jacob and his own health:

David Metcalfe actor Matthew Wolfenden revealed last year that the original cancer storyline took its toll on him both physically and mentally.

"When David started having chemotherapy it was hard to switch off," he explained. "You spend all day pretending to be ill, so when I got home I actually felt ill! All day I was coughing and spluttering so I just felt wiped out."

Hopefully it's all a false alarm and David's just fine this time!

Emmerdale continues on Tuesday (February 21) at 7pm on ITV with the fallout from Faith Dingle's arrest for murder at the long-awaited Robron wedding.
