Emmerdale fans are hopeful Pierce will be found guilty

Tonight was the moment Emmerdale fans have been waiting for as Pierce Harris took to the stand to give evidence in his rape trial – and completely tripped up on his story.

Despite first continuing to claim that he and Rhona had engaged in consensual sex on their wedding night, it seems that Rhona getting Pierce to confess to her privately beforehand managed to rattle him enough that his smooth lies didn't come to him as easily.

And it was Rhona's lawyer who soon proved himself the hero of the hour as his questions and evidence continued to present Pierce with a timeline that didn't match with his own testimony, which in turn left all of the soap's viewers singing his praises:

But after Vanessa's testimony earlier in the trial left Rhona's case in jeopardy, it's down to the jury now to decide whether or not Pierce did rape Rhona.

And viewers are really hoping the jury can see through Pierce's charm and charisma:

Even if some viewers are less optimistic the court will decide in Rhona's favour:

Emmerdale returns tomorrow night (July 28) at 7pm when a verdict will be reached in Pierce's case.
