Emmerdale fans have praised "superb" April actress Amelia Flanagan after last night's double bill episodes (June 25).

In yesterday's episodes, Max let himself into Jessie Dingle's (Sandra Marvin) house for some collateral money. This was unfortunate for Jessie, Marlon and April, who happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Eventually, Billy managed to sneak in the house and saved the day by beating up Max, but Billy didn't realise he'd left the gun on the floor.

Taking immediate action, Max reached out to the gun on the floor and shot Jessie in the process.

Viewers watching at home shared their fear about the possibility of Jessie's death, with many praising young actress Amelia for her great performance during the hostage scenes.

Jessie was later taken to the hospital, unconscious and heavily bleeding. But according to next week's spoilers, the soap's ruled out any fatality, as Jessie will get involved in a deeply troubling mystery.

In scenes due to air next week, a horrified Jessie will be told that human bones have been found on the grounds of the local school.

An investigation is immediately launched, and she has the task to break the news to the local people.

Next week's scenes will also give Jessie a more prominent role in the ITV soap, following many complaints from fans that she hasn't been more involved in Jacob's (Joe-Warren Plant) grooming storyline.

Emmerdale currently airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
