'Emmerdale' fans in tears as Vanessa tells Tracy about her cancer diagnosis

Emmerdale fans have been sharing their sadness after emotional scenes which saw Vanessa Woodfield (Michelle Hardwick) open up to her sister Tracy (Amy Walsh) about her cancer.

Fans of the ITV soap know that Vanessa was diagnosed with Stage 3 bowel cancer before her fortnight of hell at the hands of the psychotic Pierce Harris.

So far Vanessa had only told fiancee Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) about her illness but, when Tracy decided to throw a surprise party for birthday girl Vanessa, Charity ended blurting the truth out.

Vanessa and Tracy then went off to have a tearful heart-to-heart about what would happen next.

The scenes also saw Vanessa confess to Tracy that she’s found Charity smothering since her diagnosis.

Vanessa also told her sister that she wasn’t feeling positive about her future, with Tracy pleading with her to keep her spirits up.

‘You have to,’ she told her. ‘Even if you’re as sick as a dog, or your hair’s falling out.’

Fans flocked to Twitter after the sad scenes, admitting their hearts were breaking for the sisters.

One viewer wrote on the social media site: “Charity trying hard not to break but her eyes filling with tears..... Tracy completely Broken & their tight emotional hug Charity watching heartbreakingly as a struggling Vanessa runs off.... These Raw Powerful Scenes completely broke us all.”

And they weren’t alone. Another agreed, saying: “Great scene between Vanessa and Tracy.”

While a third added: “Tracy and Vanessa are breaking my heart.”

And it’s only going to get sadder.

Spoilers for next week have revealed that Vanessa makes a last will and testament before her scheduled surgery, to make sure all her affairs are together should the worst happen.
