You probably haven't failed to notice that it's snowed quite a lot in the UK this week.

And the white stuff has caused no end of trouble for the soaps, as filming schedules have been disrupted by the weather.

Emmerdale actress Samantha Giles, who plays Bernice Blackstock, shared news about her long journey to work.

Tweeting a photo of the snowy scene, she wrote: "This was the M62 at lunchtime..... at 6am this morning it was pretty horrific too!"

But she later added: "Filming cancelled as I arrived in Leeds!!"

And she wasn't the only actor to suffer disruption. Her co-star Mark Jordon, who plays Daz Spencer, revealed on Twitter that he'd walked for an hour to get to his local train station.

"Caught two trains both delayed due to weather," he said. "Arrived at the town we were filming in today only to find out today is cancelled. Trying to get home again now.

"Poor production team trying to sort everything out."

As the soaps film approximately six to eight weeks in advance, the storm wouldn't be seen on screen until the spring – when it would look rather out of place.

According to The Sun, some filming units had to be moved to avoid the snow and ice being caught on camera.

Digital Spy has reached out for comment from the ITV soap.

Luckily, we still get to enjoy Emmerdale on our screens uninterrupted this week – it'll air its next episode tomorrow (March 2) at 7pm on ITV.
