Yahoo News Emmerdale plans two shocking new romances
Emmerdale fans will be shocked this spring and summer as at least two new unexpected on-screen relationships are revealed.
Show boss Iain MacLeod is planning to pair up some very unlikely characters – but for now we'll just have to guess who'll end up falling for each other and what the consequences will be.
Speaking at an Emmerdale press event, Iain told Digital Spy and other media: "Basically, everyone will be at it!
"There's a love triangle that kicks off over the summer and it crash lands out of the blue. It's two people that you wouldn't have necessarily thought would embark on such a wild, crazy liaison.
"There's one that's a love triangle that's mental, sexy, destructive and also kind of funny. It's a man and two women – and the bloke haplessly gets stuck between two people that he can't choose between, which will be good fun.
"The other one – chalk and cheese doesn't even cover it! If you thought about the most yin and yang characters in the village, it would be them. It's unbelievably sexy and dangerous and insane – I love it."
He continued: "The early phases of that are just coming into the scripts now, so I'm only really just dipping my toe into the water with that at the moment. When it was first suggested, it was the sort of thing that makes you go: 'Really?!' And then you kind of go: 'Yeah, I'm weirdly turned on by that!'
"Honestly, pick the two characters who are least likely to end up in bed together. That kicks off around April time – but this spring and summer, there will be a lot of romance and love in Emmerdale."
We're very intrigued by this one...
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
