Yahoo News Emmerdale to revisit Jai Sharma's ruthless side
Emmerdale will be revisiting Jai Sharma's (Chris Bisson) ruthless side in an upcoming storyline as he struggles to deal with his daughter Eliza's health problems.
Upcoming scenes will see Jai and Megan face the reality that little Eliza is likely to be developing cerebral palsy – which they were warned might happen when she was starved of oxygen during her difficult birth last year.
When Eliza has another seizure next week, it's clear that Jai is struggling to cope with her condition as Megan proposes they visit a cerebral palsy support group.
Confirming that this is the start of a dark, downward spiral for Jai, show boss Iain MacLeod said at an Emmerdale press event recently: "I think actually having a child he's able to hang on to has really changed him.
"I felt that the Holly story really changed him as well. His reaction to that and her death really sobered him up and made him grow up. I still feel like the ruthless Jai is still in there.
"Chris and Gaynor don't know this yet, but we've just done a long-term story conference and big stories emerged from this whole Eliza thing and I feel like it will give Jai an opportunity to be a bit ruthless again. There's a really big story.
"Megan's no stranger to getting her claws out either, and there's a common enemy so this might feel like the calm before the storm of their ruthless behaviour."
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
