Emmerdale will revisit Gerry Roberts' death, as Liv Flaherty and Doug Potts make a discovery.

In scenes airing next week, Liv (Isobel Steele) and Doug (Duncan Preston) agree to keep a secret when Liv shows Doug the cannabis plants that Gerry planted before his death at the hands of killer Lachlan White last year.

Meanwhile, Doug is being pressured to step back from the responsibility of leading the village's new football team, given his back injury.

Bob Hope (Tony Audenshaw) and Bear Wolf (Joshua Richards) are ready to take over, but Doug insists on continuing even if it may not be in the team's best interests.

Gerry was played by Shaun Thomas between January 2017 and May 2018.

He was murdered when Lachlan wanted to permanently silence him after Gerry found out the horrifying truth about the car crash that killed Lawrence and Chrissie White.

"It was a shock, because I was only meant to come into the show for two episodes in the prison with Lachlan and I ended up staying for a year and a half," Shaun said at the time of his exit. "So I really got used to being around everybody and making a connection with everybody.

"So to be told that was coming to an end was pretty upsetting."

Also next week, David Metcalfe and Jacob Gallagher's relationship appears to be on the mend when Jacob arrives at the hospital to support David, who is awaiting his test results.

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
