Yahoo News Emmerdale star Matthew Wolfenden reveals what's next for Jacob after Maya's arrest
Emmerdale star Matthew Wolfenden has discussed what's next for David Metcalfe and Jacob Gallagher following Maya Stepney's arrest.
Maya (Louisa Clein), who has been grooming Jacob (Joe-Warren Plant), finally got her comeuppance last night (May 21) after David confronted Maya at the Cricket Pavilion. Jacob, however, is furious with David, refusing to accept that he has been groomed and manipulated.
Appearing on Lorraine, Wolfenden told Lorraine Kelly that he isn't sure how David and Jacob's relationship will mend.
"I don't know, I honestly don't," he said. "This is part of the problem. These children are groomed and they believe that they are in love. They are being made to believe that they are in love with this person, and how you turn their mind the opposite way and get them to understand that it is grooming, it is sexual abuse, how are we going to do that?
"So I think it is going to be a long process, and we're going to show Jacob's struggle with that and David's struggle with that.
"David is essentially going to blame himself for letting this woman that he brought into this house do this to his stepson."
Wolfenden added that he finds it difficult to watch himself on television.
"I can't do it, honestly!" he said. "I enjoy doing what I do, and I've had a lot of lovely feedback from all the stuff that we've done, and that's enough for me. But yeah, I can't watch myself."
Emmerdale currently airs weekdays at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
