"I think we're still finding our way, the good thing is me and Charley we're still best mates," he said.

"That's fantastic. It's all quite new to us still at the moment but we're still finding our feet, finding a way to do it and do it well. I think we are."

The former couple met on the set of the ITV soap and began dating in 2007. Webb, who played Debbie Dingle, and Wolfenden got married in 2018, before announcing they had split up in November last year.

The two actors shared they had separated in an Instagram post, with Webb writing: "It is with love and respect that Matthew and I have decided to separate. We remain friends and our priority is the love for our children. For their sake we would appreciate privacy at this time. C x."

Wolfenden posted the same message signed with his initial. On Instagram, he later clarified it was Webb's decision to end the marriage amid speculations about his new relationship with Elf co-star Heather Scott-Martin.

The actor also explained he met Scott-Martin "way after" the marriage to Webb ended, saying he and his ex-wife are still good friends.

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
