Yahoo News Emmerdale star shrugs off 'Poundland Holly' criticism
Emmerdale's Scarlett Archer – who plays newcomer Nell Fairfax – has hit back at critics who claim that her character is a 'cut-price' version of Holly Barton.
Some fans have drawn similarities between newbie Nell and Holly, who was Jai's former lover, but Scarlett isn't bothered about what they've got to say.
Chatting to The Sun about viewers' claims the two women are too similar, Scarlett admitted that some of the insults thrown her way are "quite witty".
"I'll let them have those," she added.
Saying that hearing criticism is "strange" now that she's in a popular soap, Scarlett said: "I take the criticism and praise the same way - in one ear and out the other.
"I can't be thinking about that the next time I'm on set."
She continued: "It does sometimes surprise me that I do this job when I am very shy in real life, but you put yourself out there and have to accept not everyone will like you."

Things aren't looking certain for Nell and Jai's future at the moment, as Nell gets the wrong idea about Jai's true feelings for her after overhearing a conversation between him and Moira Barton.
As everything comes to a head between them, will Jai finally tell Nell that he loves her or will he let her slip away from the village?
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
