Emmerdale star Tony Audenshaw on Bob's death discovery

Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale star Tony Audenshaw has shared more details of the chaos ahead as his character Bob Hope takes over the local B&B with Bernice Blackstock.

Bob and Bernice have teamed up to transform the business and their grand re-opening event takes place in Wednesday's episode (February 22).

The pair are determined to make a success of their new venture. Sadly, there's trouble in store after Bernice spent the night with newcomer Tim – the harpist booked to provide entertainment at the launch.

Tim goes AWOL when he's supposed to be impressing the guests. Bob heads upstairs to investigate and soon tells Bernice that he found Tim dead in the bed that he'd shared with her the night before.

Speaking about the problems ahead, Tony explained: "Bob and Bernice have got all these things to do. They're starting their new business with this massive launch, and Bob is only half-happy with the things they have planned.

"On the morning of the launch, Bob can't find Bernice. Not only is Bob doing his work, he's doing Bernice's work as well. The clock's ticking before the guests arrive.

"When Bernice finally turns up, she lies that she has been for a run. Bob can't understand it, but she puts him in his place and he has to accept it.

"We find out later that Bernice has been sleeping with the rather gorgeous harpist and having the time of her life with him!"

When Tim's fate threatens to spoil the launch event, Bob and Bernice face the tough task of trying to address the situation without sparking bad reviews and publicity.

Tony continued: "When the guests arrive, Bob goes to look for the harpist to find out where he is. Tim should be in front of the harp, as they've paid a lot of good money for this!

"Bob goes upstairs to check up on Tim and finds him dead in the room, with the guests all downstairs. He goes and gets Bernice and explains what's going on.

"They've got a dead harpist on their hands, but what do they do? Do they call the police? Do they move the body? They don't know what to do for the best. Bob is completely perplexed by it.

"Bob sends Bernice downstairs to clear the guests so they can call for help, but he's waiting for ages. It turns out that Bernice hasn't done anything to resolve the situation.

"Bob goes back down and there's this journalist there from the local paper. People are enjoying themselves, drinking and having a good time. Bernice has just got carried away with the moment of it all!"

The show is keeping tight-lipped about whether Bob and Bernice will manage to defy the odds and make a success of their event in the farcical storyline.

Asked about his new on-screen double act with Samantha Giles, who plays Bernice, Tony added: "I'm really enjoying it. Obviously I've known Sam for a long time and we've had the odd bits and pieces together, but it's been great to work as a double act.

"It started last year with the storm storyline, when we had all the clean-up in the village together. There was a bit of a comedy dynamic going on then – and Sam is great to work with."

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
