Emmerdale's April star flooded with messages as she marks major milestone away from soap

Emmerdale star Amelia Flanagan has been flooded with messages of congratulations as she revealed a big milestone away from appearing in the show. The actress is best known for having grown up on screen in the ITV soap playing April Windsor.

The character is the daughter of Marlon Dingle and the late Donna Windsor and soap fans first saw Amelia in the role of the youngster back in 2014 when she was only six years old.

And Amelia, whose siblings Isabella and William star in Coronation Street, is regularly praised for her performance in Emmerdale and has plenty of awards to her name already, winning Best Young Actor at the Insider Soap Awards for three years in a row and was awarded The British Soap Awards' Best Young Performance gong in 2015.

Away from playing April on-screen, Amelia has also been busy with her studies and recently marked her last day at secondary school. Taking to Instagram with a string of snaps, the teen could be seen posing in front of a balloon display which said: "Class of 2024".

She was also seen alongside some of her gal pals before enjoying her last day in school with her and her schoolmates signing each other's t-shirts and getting sweet pictures with one another. "Leavers day 24," Amelia captioned the post before her fans and followers shared their messages.

It comes after Amelia's mum, Rachel, recently revealed it was a big day for the soap star. Sharing a picture of Amelia with on-screen mum Verity Rushworth, she said on Instagram: "10 years ago she started this crazy journey we call soap land @ameliaflanagan08 @verityrushworth @emmerdale."

And Emmerdale fans were quick to respond with prais. @hayleyluvsgarethgates said: "Amazing little actress." @ataylor7575 wrote: "Awww I remember her start, fabulous little girl, she was perfect from the start." @lydiaalty added: "Awh can't believe it's been ten years of April! She's an amazing Character and Amelia is just a fantastic actor."
