Emmerdale's Charity star praises 'remarkable' Eden Taylor-Draper as tension escalates

Emmerdale icon Emma Atkins has gushed over her "remarkable" co-star Eden Taylor-Draper after years of playing family on the telly as Belle and Charity Dingle.

Eden-Taylor has been a key part in the current abuse storyline going on, as Belle struggles in her marriage to Tom King. Now the duo are set to share even more screen time, with their characters set to play a pivotal role in exposing Tom's (played by James Chase) dark deeds.

Tom looks finally set to get what's coming to him as Charity begins sniffing around next week, suspicious that something's wrong. He's been tormenting Belle both mentally and physically – and the next slew of episodes promise plenty of drama.

In the drama-filled episodes ahead, Belle's put under the microscope as Charity, Chas (Lucy Pargeter), Mandy (Lisa Riley) and Lydia Dingle (Karen Blick) grill her about her dodgy relationship with her abusive husband.

Charity's determined to get to the bottom of it and confronts Belle, but when Belle gets riled up by the interrogation, she bolts. Later, outside the Woolpack, Charity tries again to coax the truth out of Belle.

Just as Belle's about to crack, Tom appears, causing her to push Charity away and dash home, reports the Express.

Charity is left gobsmacked when Tom dismisses her concerns, claiming Belle's just battling her demons. The other Dingle women reckon Charity might've jumped the gun, leaving her worried she's blown her shot at uncovering the truth.

At a recent Emmerdale press day, Emma spilled the beans: "I love Eden will all my heart so working with her, because we do see each other socially, it's great because we've got some good stuff coming up so she's going to come over and stay and we're going to blast the scenes and work on it really hard."

"When we come to do this lovely episode and it will have real meaning because we would have worked on it. She's smashing it out of the park as the young ones would say."

"She is truly remarkable and I think she's really found herself and she's really coming into her own and she's dong stuff and being challenged in a way she's never been before and she's stepping up to the mark and I'm really proud of her as a friend."

"Eden is incredible because you can tell she wants to open up and I think it's at that point where the audience will be like 'come on, you've got all your Dingle girlfriends and family around you, this is where she should be in her safe space' but mid girly night the phone goes and Tom is ringing her mobile and Belle goes out to take the call and Charity follows Belle out and goes 'he's around the corner why is he calling you? '".

"I think that's going to excite the audience in a way because everybody is saying 'when is he going to get found out? ' I have been watching and it's strong stuff. I spend a lot of my time screaming at Tom. It's difficult to watch sometimes I must say."
