Emmerdale's Tom King actor James Chase's real life from past roles to ‘unusual’ hobby

James Chase is well known for his role as Tom King on ITV hit soap Emmerdale. The star joined the show in April last year and has caused plenty of drama since then.

The role was previously played by Mark Flanagan, who was on the show from 2012 and 2013. Sharing the news of his new role at the time, James took to social media to wrote: “Absolutely buzzing to finally announce that I'm playing Tom King in @emmerdale!! I want to thank my incredible agents at @redtalent @kelseybing @cheekychappy for getting me in the door, and the awesome casting department for giving me this opportunity.

"It's been crazy fun already filming this last month, with everyone cast and crew alike humbly welcoming me into the Emmerdale family. Tune into to ITV 1 on 27th April. Bring the Popcorn!!”

Since James joined as the new Tom has rekindled his relationship with Belle Dingle the pair have gone on to tie the knot and moved in together.

However, cracks begin to appear and James' character has taken a sinister turn. Tom has been emotionally abusing and controlling his new wife.

Many fans have been fearing for Belle’s safety given his abusive and gaslighting behaviour. Despite playing a mysterious villain on screen, away from the soap, James couldn’t be further from his on-screen character.

Career before Emmerdale

Before hitting the big time on Emmerdale, James started to make a name for himself having small parts in TV and voiceover work.

He previously appeared in the stage version of Robin of Loxley directed by Andrew Walkington and also had a acting parts in The Beginning and End of Everything and in Art of Love.

Away from acting, James worked on a number of voice projects, including working for the Saint Kitts and Nevis investment programme in the Caribbean.

James ‘quirky’ hobby and private life.

Despite appearing in popular soap Emmerdale, there is very little known about James’ personal life. The actor prefers to keep his real life away from the spotlight. What we do know is that he is currently living in Leeds and in his spare time he likes to collect quirky action figures.

Earlier this year, James took to Instagram and revealed his unique Funko Pops hobby. In the snap several Funko pops could be seen stacked on the shelf. The star also refers to himself as an “all around goofball”.
