Emmys 2019: Natasha Lyonne’s clapping is giving everyone Nicole Kidman flashbacks
Awards ceremonies are supposed to be all about the winners - but occasionally, a celebrity guest’s actions briefly steal the spotlight.
At Sunday night’s Emmys, Natasha Lyonne was one of the stars to do so thanks to her unusual clapping technique.
The Orange is the new Black star was captured applauding one of the evening’s winners during the live telecast.
And when the footage aired live in the US, fans soon began discussing her method of applauding.

Lyonne’s clapping gave many fans flashbacks to the 2017 Oscars, which saw Nicole Kidman hit headlines for a similarly odd hand action.

There was plenty to celebrate during Sunday’s event as stars including Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Peter Dinklage and Ben Whishaw took home prizes.
Admitting he was hungover, A Very English Scandal star Whishaw explained he had been out for drinks with his agent the night before.
He then thanked his cast mates, the show’s director, Steven Frears, and his partner Mark, “for his love and his support and for keeping me somewhat sane.”
Dinklage won Game Of Thrones' first award night, triumphing in the Supporting actor in a drama series category.
The actor, who played Tyrion Lannister in the hit series, won ahead of stars including his cast mates Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Alfie Allen.
