While we haven't had any more concrete info on the outcome, we at least now know when we'll find out – with confirmation that the second season of the Channel 4/Netflix show will premiere in November.
Alongside that it has been revealed that the new season will be set two years later, and first-look pictures have emerged alongside the unveiling of a brand new character.
In the new images from the series, Alyssa (Jessica Barden) is seen dressed in a diner uniform, while the photos also tease the mysterious Bonnie (Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker's Naomi Ackie), an outsider with a troubled past and a connection to Alyssa.
Notably absent is James (Alex Lawther), whose fate was left uncertain after being shot at the very end of season one. However, given the fact that season two is set two years later, we'd hazard a guess that he's either dead or in prison.
Season two began shooting earlier this year, with Netflix confirming the news at the time via an Instagram post of star Barden.
Meanwhile, Lawther spoke to Digital Spy last year about how he would like to see season two start, joking: "[Jessica] was saying how she would like the second series to start with a musical on the beach – taking a role in a musical version of The End of the F***ing World, which I would be completely up for!
"I'm not sure how Charlie [Covell, series writer] will take that, but we're going to push that idea as far as we can."
The End of the F***ing World season 2 will premiere in November on Channel 4 in the UK and Netflix in the US, though won't appear on Netflix UK until much later.
