After a tense build-up, England secured a historic win against Germany on Tuesday evening, bringing a carnival atmosphere to the country with it.

Unsurprisingly, the front pages of England’s newspapers were dominated by coverage of the 2-0 victory, and the hope that it will now put the Three Lions firmly on the path to Euro 2020 glory.

Manchester City's Raheem Sterling and England's talismanic captain Harry Kane struck within 11 minutes in the second half to secure a memorable victory in the last-16 tie at Wembley Stadium.

Many of the front pages featured the two scoring heroes celebrating on the pitch, with one newspaper declaring that it was “time to dream”.

Boris Johnson, who is not known to have a keen interest in football, tweeted after the game: “Well done England!

“We’re all behind you – bring it home!”

England will now play Ukraine in a quarter-final showdown in Rome on Saturday, with some bookmakers now installing England as new tournament favourites.
