England team news: Raheem Sterling to keep Three Lions place as Dele Alli misses out

Raheem Sterling will keep his place in the England starting XI for their Group G clash against Panama, as Gareth Southgate makes one change.

Sterling's position in the side was under question following his performance during the win over Tunisia in the Three Lions’ World Cup opener earlier this week and, after a picture of what looked to be a team sheet was snapped in the hand of England assistant Steve Holland during an open training session, it looked as if Marcus Rashford would replace the Manchester City forward.

However, Southgate will make just one change for the game in Nizhny Novgorod with Chelsea’s Ruben Loftus-Cheek expected to replace Dele Alli, who misses out due to a thigh strain.

With Group G rivals Belgium securing their spot in the knockout stages with an emphatic 5-2 win over Tunisia, England will be hoping to follow suit against Panama, setting up a play-off for top spot on Thursday.

On the 'team sheet' photo, Southgate said: "The picture the other day wasn't even the team, so it's even less of a drama.

"It was the front sheet and on that at training is always the runners and riders, those that are injured and what the practises will be.

"Behind that are all the changes we'll make in the session."

Expected XI: Pickford; Walker, Stones, Maguire; Trippier, Henderson, Loftus-Cheek, Lingard, Young; Sterling, Kane
