Erica Mena's 3 Kids: All About Sons King and Legend and Daughter Safire

The 'Love & Hip Hop' star is a mom to two sons and one daughter

Erica Mena is a mom of three.

The former Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta star was 19 years old when she welcomed her first child, son King, with rapper Raul Conde. “Obviously there was no other option. I have to keep my baby,” she said during a sit-down interview with Carlos King in 2023.

Over a decade after becoming a first-time mom, Mena welcomed two children with Safaree Samuels: daughter Safire and son Legend. Mena and Samuels tied the knot in October 2019, though she filed for divorce less than two years later when she was pregnant with Legend.

While speaking to Carlos, Mena credited the arrival of her firstborn son King with setting “the tone for how” she would “hustle moving forward.” She explained, “Because as a young mom, you don’t realize the layers to being a mom, I should say.”

Mena added, “I just worried most about providing, and I wanted him to just always have what he wanted, what he needed, especially because I’m a big believer like when you have kids, they didn’t ask to be here, so if you have these kids you better do right by them and that’s kind of like what my mentality was when I had my baby.”

King Conde, 17

Mena welcomed her first child, son King, in 2007, with rapper Conde. According to Mena, King was a “good baby,” who hardly cried, she told Carlos in 2023.

The reality TV star also credited her older sister with helping her “fuel King’s mind” and keeping him on top of his education. The proud mom told Carlos that her firstborn has “always been very, very intelligent” and that there were days she would get called into school because King corrected his teacher.

In the same interview, Mena revealed that King, then 16, would graduate high school that year. “I am so proud," she gushed.

While Mena has lived her life in front of the camera, appearing on Love & Hip Hop for over a decade, King has preferred to stay out of the spotlight. According to the model, King is “very vocal” about “not wanting to be in the public eye."

Mena has also avoided sharing photos of her oldest child to respect his privacy, save for a few sweet moments like the time she snapped him holding his little sister Safire's hand in 2021.

Safire Majesty Samuels, 4

Mena's second child, daughter Safire Majesty Samuels, was born on Feb. 3, 2020. Mena shares Safire with her ex-husband and former Love & Hip Hop: New York costar Samuels.

Prior to their daughter's arrival, Mena and Samuels hosted a Met Gala-themed baby shower. “We were like, ‘What can we do to top our wedding?’ I came up with it one morning and I was like ‘Let’s do Met Gala!’ Like why not? [With] Met Gala people can be creative, go all out, sparkle, glam, pink hair,” Mena later recalled to PEOPLE.

Samuels announced Safire's birth on Instagram with a photo of her hand wrapped around one of his fingers. “These past 24 hrs have been an adventure to say the least!! I’m a part of the #girldad club now,” he wrote alongside the since-deleted picture. “Perfection is here.”

However, Mena waited until Safire was 9 months old to share photos of her baby daughter's face. “The BEST part of 2020 🌹 My Safire Majesty @safiremajesty,” she captioned the adorable post.

At just 4 years old, Safire already has her own Instagram account — which has over 150,000 followers. Many of the posts feature Safire with her mom and younger brother Legend. She also appears to be a budding fashionista. In 2022, she twinned with her mom in Fashion Nova tracksuits. The following year, she wore a replica version of her mother’s wedding dress. "I really made a better version of me. ♥️✨," Mena penned in the post.

In 2024, Mena celebrated Safire's 4th birthday with a sweet post on Instagram, describing her daughter as "incredibly smart," "kind" and curious.

"I’m going to continue to give you everything I can that’s the BEST in this world," she added.

Legend Brian Samuels, 2

Legend Brian Samuels, Mena's third child and second with Samuels, was born in June 2021. A month before Legend's arrival, Mena filed for divorce from Samuels.

After he was born, Legend spent time in the NICU, which made the reality star feel “guilty, confused and scared."

“This whole experience has taught how important it is to protect my peace,” she wrote on Instagram, according to The Shade Room. “How important it is to turn my pain into power. It has also given me a different type of strength for not only me but my kids. King - Safire - Legend I promise you your mommy will make you proud. No more settling and fighting for anything that doesn’t deserve me only because you three forever deserve the best of me.”

Legend has appeared on his big sister’s Instagram account, including for his first birthday in 2022. In the photo, Safire and Legend posed in coordinating black-and-white outfits in front of a black, white and gold backdrop. “It’s My Best Friend's 1st Birthday. It’s forever US Together. I Love you Lege," read the caption.
