Erik ten Hag blasts Man Utd critics and rips into 'disgraceful' comments in stormy press conference

Erik ten Hag has blasted the negative reaction to Manchester United reaching the FA Cup final after they squeezed through on penalty kicks against Championship outfit Coventry City - having blown a three-goal lead at Wembley.

The Dutchman, reportedly facing the axe at Old Trafford, hit out at at the media and turned on a journalist who asked him following the victory on Sunday, which saw the Red Devils set up a second successive all-Manchester FA Cup final with rivals City, if he was “embarrassed” to win in such a manner.

Former Ajax boss Ten Hag was asked if he could understand the reaction as it was pointed out that it felt as if they had actually lost the match. But he said: “No, absolutely not. You made the question ‘Is it embarrassing?’. No. The reaction from you was embarrassing. It is, the comments. Football is about results and we made it to the final and we deserved - not just from this game but all the other games. We lost control and had bad luck to go from 3-2, 3-3. We were very lucky in the end, that’s clear, but the penalties were very good and we made it to the final. That’s twice in two years, a huge achievement. Magnificent. I have been to four cup finals in four years as a manager so the comments are a disgrace.”
