Erling Haaland and Josko Gvardiol have a pop at Nottingham Forest pitch after Man City win

Manchester City match-winners against Nottingham Forest, Josko Gvardiol and Erling Haaland, both criticised the City Ground pitch.

Gvardiol and Haaland were both on target for the Premier League champions as they beat Forest 2-0 on Sunday. Gvardiol headed Pep Guardiola’s side 1-0 ahead in the first half and Haaland came off the subs’ bench to double their lead in the second half.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the final whistle, Gvardiol said: “We knew it was going to be tough, especially because of the pitch like this. It was really dry, but in the end an important three points and we go back home.”

"It’s the second goal for me,” he added. “I didn’t expect to score but I found myself in the position.”

Haaland added: “First of all it’s a win - that’s the most important thing, it doesn’t matter how we do it. It’s good to be back.

“We know where they are in the table so we knew it was going to be a fight. It’s not the easiest pitch to play on but we can’t complain about these things, it’s about winning a football game and that’s exactly what we did. Three points, get in, shower, onto the next.”
