The Essex pub with stunning views of historic Victorian railway bridge from the garden

If you’re looking for a pub away from the hustle and bustle of the larger Essex towns, the Swan Inn Chappel won’t disappoint with its stunning scenery and wide selection of tempting cocktails, ales and fine wines. The Swan Inn is located in the picturesque village of Chappel, close to Colchester.

Its beer garden is perfect for the summer with its stunning views of rural Essex and the Chappel viaduct. The Victorian viaduct, with its 32 arches and total length of 346 metres, is thought to be the second largest brick-built structure in England.

It was built between 1847 and 1849 as part of the Colchester and Stour line of the Eastern Counties Railway. It is still used today to link Marks Tey and Sudbury.
