The Eurovision Song Contest 2024 has concluded with Switzerland emerging as the winner, following months of anticipation and some last-minute drama.

The crown was bestowed upon Switzerland's Nemo. The grand event took place at the Malmo Arena in Sweden, a year after the UK hosted on behalf of Ukraine in Liverpool.

This followed Loreen's victory in Liverpool in 2023 with her song Tattoo, marking the 68th edition of the Contest. Sweden has now hosted the world's biggest music event seven times.

This year, Hollywood star Malin Akerman and iconic Eurovision veteran Petra Mede were the hosts. Olly, the Years and Years star, had a smooth run during the Eurovision Song Contest final despite experiencing a wardrobe malfunction at the first semi-final on Tuesday.

The 33-year-old singer was number 13 in Saturday night's running order, performing 12th at the Malmo Arena with his song Dizzy, following the withdrawal of the Netherlands. His performance, which included an innovative upside-down dressing room set and cameras that rotated to create a dizzying effect for Alexander and his dancers, went off without a hitch after his mic pack came loose earlier in the week, reports the Manchester Evening News.

In another highlight of the evening, Dame Joanna Lumley was seen sipping champagne as she delivered the UK's jury votes at the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest. With the iconic Tower of London in the background, Dame Joanna awarded the nation's top score of 12 points to Portugal, recalling last year's contest in Liverpool and praising Sweden's "fabulous" hosting of this year's event.

The excitement built as 25 acts and bands took to the stage, each giving their all in hopes of being named the Eurovision 2024 champions and taking home the prestigious trophy. When the final tally of jury and public votes was announced, Switzerland emerged victorious with 591 points, followed by Croatia with 547 points, and France rounding out the top three with 445 points.
