Everton 'ready transfer approach' for Leeds United ace amid Jack Harrison deal

Leeds United have a job on their hands to keep Wilfried Gnonto at Elland Road this summer. Nottingham Forest are reportedly keen on signing the Italian winger but are not the only Premier League club said to be interested in the player.

A Football Insider report says Everton are readying to make an approach for Gnonto after wrapping up a deal for Aston Villa midfielder Tim Iroegbunam. The Merseyside club are said to have closely monitored Gnonto's progress, having failed to land him in the summer transfer window last year. Sean Dyche's side are believed to be in the market for more attacking reinforcements after letting youngster Lewis Dobbin join Villa.

Gnonto flourished in the second half of the campaign as the Whites agonisingly missed out on promotion via the play-offs. He racked up 44 appearances across all competitions, hitting nine goals.

Although Gnonto is under contract until the summer of 2027, United chairman Paraag Marathe has made it clear players exits are on the cards after the club failed to achieve promotion back to the Premier League. It is no secret Jack Harrison is heading back to Everton for a second successive year. The former England Under-21 international spent last season at Goodison Park, making 29 league appearances for the Toffees as they staved off the threat of relegation.

As well as Gnonto, top-flight clubs are also said to be eyeing up Archie Gray, Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter. There will be no doubt be plenty of incomings and outgoings at Elland Road over the coming weeks as Daniel Farke aims to build a team capable of challenging for the title.
