Following a power cut over the weekend which led to dozens of flights being cancelled and delayed, Manchester Airport is now operating as normal, although it has warned that it is ‘slightly busier than usual’. On Sunday a power outage in the early hours caused cancellations from both Terminal 1 and 2.

According to flight data analysts Cirium, 66 departures were cancelled from Manchester Airport by 1pm on Sunday, with 50 inbound flights also cancelled. It led to huge queues in the airport and a backlog of luggage as the baggage systems failed.

In an update issued yesterday, a spokesperson for the airport said that “all systems were working as normal” and that there were “no ongoing issues”. It did say that the airport would be busier “over the coming days” as passengers move onto new flights, but added that extra staff would be on hand to help.
