The Exorcist: Believer has confirmed its digital release date, with fans not having too much longer to wait.

The sequel to the 1973 horror classic follows Victor Fielding (Leslie Odom Jr), who is left reeling as his daughter and her best friend are possessed after venturing into the woods.

Though released in cinemas earlier this month, US audiences will be able to view the latest film from the comfort of their own home from tomorrow, October 24, with the pre-order price currently at $29.99 on Amazon; there is currently no release date for UK audiences.

Believer, the first instalment in a proposed sequel trilogy, saw Ellen Burstyn reprise her role as Chris MacNeil from the original film, with Linda Blair also making a surprise cameo as her on-screen daughter, Regan, in the closing scenes.

Director David Gordon Green recently spoke about Blair’s appearance in the film, revealing that he was doubtful about the actor ever reprising her role as the iconic character.

"I never thought she would do it," he recalled. "She has a very passionate life protecting dogs at a rescue centre in California, and she has, for the most part, stepped away from acting.

"I reached out to her originally just to say, 'I'm going to be the steward of this title. You are an important legacy figure of this franchise. I need to know you.'

"She gave me her thoughts on how to go about accessing a degree of intimacy, of darkness, of complexity within these two amazing performers, Lydia (Jewett) and Olivia (Marcum). She helped us walk those tightropes, and then we started having fun."

The Exorcist: Believer is in cinemas now and on demand in the US from October 24.
