FACE masks will now be required in all clinical areas of acute Worcestershire hospitals after a spike in the number of Covid cases.

Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust confirmed the news in a statement earlier today (Thursday, June 27).

The new face mask rules will apply to staff, patients and visitors.

This follows an increase in Covid-positive patients in the Trust's hospitals.

Everyone visiting, working in or being admitted to the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch, Kidderminster Hospital and Treatment Centre, and Worcestershire Royal Hospital in Worcester will have to follow these rules until further notice.

A Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust spokesperson said: "This measure is necessary to protect patients, their loved ones, and our hospital staff from the risk of infection, and we are grateful for your support.

"Masks are required in all inpatient and outpatient areas and will be available to all patients and visitors."

The Trust provides a wide range of services to a population of 592,158 people in Worcestershire as well as caring for patients from surrounding counties and further afield.
