A family that travelled all the way from Derby to the Isle of Wight to collect a lost teddy has thanked the community for helping them.

Malcolm and Margaret Harrison, both in their 80s, had been holidaying on the Island when they lost stuffed koala Suzie on a bus travelling from Newport to Ryde.

“As soon as the bus left, I realised I had dropped her,” said Margaret.

“I lost my little koala who is very special to us.

“We waited at the stop but Suzie, our bear, wasn’t handed in.”

Margaret said she was heartbroken at the thought of leaving the Island without her sentimental keepsake and appealed for help in locating her.

“She has a family of five bigger brothers and sisters who are missing her very much too,” said Margaret previously.

“Our thoughts are that maybe a child picked her up who doesn't realise how much she is missed.”

The County Press posted a photo on Facebook and a mother and daughter who found Suzie soon came forward, offering to reunite her.

“It was a very happy occasion,” said Margaret of the reunion.

“Suzie koala had a lovely time with her new friends.

“This means we can return to the Island with happy memories.”
