Family's heartache after 'fun-loving, caring' Amelia Brooke Harris, 4, found dead in Trealaw, south Wales

A family has spoken of its heartache after a "fun-loving, caring" little girl was found dead at a home in South Wales.

Police have named the four-year-old who died on Friday as Amelia Brooke Harris.

A 37-year-old woman, Carly Ann Harris, was charged with her murder late on Sunday.

Ms Harris, from Trealaw, will appear at Merthyr Tydfil Magistrates' Court on Monday morning.

The child's family said she was "beautiful both inside and out, and was a fun-loving, caring and bubbly little girl".

"She was taken far too early from us and had her whole life ahead of her," they added.

"Words cannot convey how we are feeling at this moment in time.

"We know our lives will never be the same again."

Emergency services were called to an address in Trealaw in Rhondda at about 10.20pm on Friday.

Amelia was declared dead at the scene.

South Wales Police has asked for people to "demonstrate responsibility when using social media".

"Some information has been both upsetting for family members and could compromise the investigation, and future court proceedings," Detective Superintendent Richard Jones said.

A post-mortem was due to take place on Sunday.

While noting that emotions would be running high, the family asked for privacy and for people to be "respectful" on social media.
