Fan Captures Moment Chicago Bulls' Mascot Bombards Crowd With Popcorn

A Chicago Bulls fan captured the moment the basketball team’s mascot, Benny the Bull, decorated him and other audience members with popcorn at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois, on April 5.

Craig Shimala captured footage of Benny in the midst of his signature moves, first whipping handfuls of popcorn at fans from a giant bag. Video shows Benny then hoist the bag in the air and spin it around, deluging fans with the snack.

Shimala was seated in Section 106, the area of the stadium known as Benny’s Splash Zone. Speaking to Storyful, Shimala said sitting in the splash zone was “quite the experience.”

“From the anticipation of him possibly singling you out with his towering overflowing bag of popcorn, to when the song drops and the first pieces of popcorn go flying, to the popcorn bag drifting down randomly onto your head, it’s a thrilling time,” he said. Credit: Craig Shimala via Storyful
